One two-month journey circling the Land Down Under was terminated in the wake of the fatal incident of an older woman who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a remote island.

The elderly woman had been walking on the tropical location with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the party for a break. The vessel departed without her and came back several hours later after the ship staff became aware the passenger was missing.

A large-scale hunt found her person the following day.

Officials are examining the event, in coordination with law enforcement and the medical examiner.

Chief Executive of the cruise operator said that travelers and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were informed that the remainder of the voyage had been terminated due to the "sad loss and previous mechanical issues".

In a statement, he further stated that passengers would be provided a total repayment, and said the operator was working "to arrange the return journeys of the individuals via chartered flights".

Officials also published an updated statement, and said they had "delivered a directive to the Captain" preventing any further travelers from boarding the liner.

The official said that they would inspect the ship in Cairns upon its arrival.

Sequence of Occurrences

The liner originally sailed from the coastal city on October 24th, and was just two days into the voyage at the time of the senior passenger's death. Lizard Island was the initial destination on the journey.

Guests on the vessel - who generally pay substantial amounts of currency to join the expedition - were transported there for a day trip with the choice of walking or snorkelling.

The daughter of the deceased woman said that her relatives was "surprised and distressed that the ship left Lizard Island after an planned tour without my mother".

Via her announcement, she portrayed her mum as an "active octogenarian" who was a member of a hiking club.

"From the little facts we have been provided, it appears that there was a failure of attention and common sense," she said.

She added that she hoped the examination would be able to pinpoint what "the company should have undertaken that might have preserved Mum's existence".
