The Ideal Pokémon Tales: Z-A Mega Evolution According to the Astrological Sign
This return of Super Forms in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has ignited immense enthusiasm within the fandom. From the one-by-one reveal of newcomers before the game's launch, to trainers developing strong views on the entire lineup of new Megas, there's plenty for enthusiasts to look forward to.
Given many of the Mega Evolutions boasting distinctive appearances that emphasize their personalities, one thought naturally: What's the best way to link this with astrology? The following is inspired by a mix of vibes, common zodiac traits, and personal experience.
The Ram – Mega Camerupt
Honestly, Houndoom was nearly chosen for Aries, as both are the Mega Pokémon and astrological sign that evoke the most fear. But, a Super Houndoom comes across as always angry, which doesn't match the Ram's energy, renowned for being fun, light-hearted, and impulsive. This makes the Ram far more similar to Mega Camerupt, which only spews lava when angered. Remain on the friendly side of either and benefit from a powerful ally; should you offend them, be ready to get burned.
Taurus – Mega Heracross
Similar to a devoted Taurus, the steadfast Heracross, whether in its regular and Mega form, has assisted numerous trainers in Legends: Z-A. While trustworthy, each the creature and a Taurus are also battle-oriented, and – whether it's their companion or a strong opinion – will stand up for their side unwaveringly. The thing about Super Heracross that recalls most of my Bull-sign companions, though, is its unabashed passion for treats. Several previous Pokédex entries note their fondness for tasty sap and how it uses its horn to hoard it all, which is pure Bull-sign vibe.
Gemini – Super Medicham
Look at this absolute queen. You cannot tell me this Pokémon is not the life of every party, offering an endless stream of chatter to those who wants to hear. Just like an captivating, sociable Gemini, it's incredibly simple to imagine Mega Medicham captivating an whole open area with their tales. Medicham’s Pokédex entry also mentions its capacity to predict an opponent's next moves, which sounds very similar to a people-smart Twins.
The Crab – Mega Manectric
Cancer is commonly considered as the most sensitive sign of the zodiac, a passionate sign famous for frequently getting wrapped up in their feelings. Per the Pokédex, Mega Evolution charges the Pokémon with a “huge amount of energy, but it's excessive for this Pokémon to fully manage,” which sounds a lot like a typical Cancer emotional outburst. This Pokémon is also known for its capability to create a storm cloud over its very head – and if there’s a single trait a Crab is likely to do, it’s spoil their good time.
The Lion – Super Starmie
Oh, did you assume I was planning to pick the lion Pokémon for the lion of the zodiac? Aside from the reality that it would be far too on the nose, Leo is clearly Super Starmie, the star whose legs just went viral for being too fabulous (or horrifying, depending on your taste). Fans couldn’t look away from the purple starfish, and that’s precisely the same energy a Lion offers to the scene. Starmie is also said to be broadcasting radio waves from its center out into space, and it’s typical of a Leo to be staging a performance, even if for aliens.
The Maiden – Super Victreebel
The always-ready and constantly-worried Maiden is ideally encapsulated in Mega Victreebel, the Mega with perpetual acid reflux. The sign famous for being endearingly judgmental is strongly reflected throughout this Pokémon’s entire lineage, from a always surprised expression like a Virgo when you tell them you lack a retirement plan, to its upside-down visage that’s just like the emoji a Maiden sends to the chatroom when everyone says they want to “go with the flow” rather than creating a plan.
The Scales – Super Audino
Look at this gentle, empathetic creature, who employs the feelers on its ears to tell how others are emotionally by their pulse. Always empathetic – sometimes to a fault – and trying to keep the peace, there are numerous Scales who would likely appreciate Mega Audino’s skills. However, let’s be honest, it would likely just cause them to stress even more about others.
Scorpio – Mega Banette
Banette is a creature with a surprisingly sad origin: Abandoned as a toy, it gained consciousness through pure hatred and vowed retribution on its former owner. Per the Pokédex, Super Evolution, “increases its spitefulness.” That sounds precisely like many conversations I’ve had with my intense Scorpion friends. A Scorpio adores cosmic justice and retribution, making them the perfect match with Super Banette.
Sagittarius – Super Hawlucha
Both Mega Hawlucha and Sagittarians are always staging a show. As a Archer myself, the number of occasions I’ve called myself some variation of a “silly small entertainer” is countless. The most flamboyant and most obnoxious Mega Evolution, its description even notes how it “poses to show off its power.” I would do the very same thing if I had a Mega evolved form, making Super Hawlucha the most fitting Archer counterpart I can think of.
The Goat – Mega Absol
Did you know that a Mega Absol has the power to foresee calamities ahead of time? That gives the exact same vibe as a Goat, who tends to consistently believe they’re right. Interestingly, similar to a visionary Super Absol, they often are. It’s also the very initial Super Form that trainers meet in Legends: Z-A – typical of a Goat to join the beginning of the Super Form craze.
The Water Bearer – Mega Chandelure
Detached element Aquarius is possibly the non-flame placement that is most like a fire sign – its sister sign is the Lion, and there are numerous jokes about Sagittarius and Water Bearer being unpredictable partners in crime. Super Chandelure's dual Spirit/Flame typing matches seamlessly with this, and the Mega’s general intimidating aura is also very Water Bearer. If you weren’t already persuaded, the Mega’s description says it “draws in hatred and transforms it into strength.” If that fails to exactly {encaps
