The former Liverpool manager says rejoining to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.
Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, remarked that returning someday remains a possibility. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing nine-season tenure which brought a European Cup triumph and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, currently occupies positions in a global football capacity for Red Bull and providing guidance for the DFL.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
Liverpool won the league title under Arne Slot, but many fans who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the possibility of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I stated I won't manage another team on English soil. So that means should it be the Reds...absolutely. It's plausible.”
“At 58 years old, which suggests I might decide down the line, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I'll simply watch what lies ahead.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Questioned regarding which situations must arise to tempt his return to management, he revealed he was not instantly drawn for a comeback. “I don’t even know exactly, I love what I do right now,” he said. “No longing for management; I avoid standing during downpours for two-and-a-half or three hours; I'm glad to skip media briefings four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats weekly.
“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal alongside the squad enjoying conversation, is pleasant. We won a lot of games thus frequently a very good mood at the club. I can still hear the captain's chuckle in my ear to illustrate.”
Commending Arne Slot
He spoke highly of the current boss, praising him for the tweaks which secured the championship last campaign. The team has suffered a string of losses in every contest following significant transfers, but he rubbished the suggestion of it representing a slump.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. An outstanding player. Ekitike, superb talent. This is a well-built balanced team. No need for concern over the club, things will improve.”
Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota
The manager expressed deep feeling about the death of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in during his tenure, and the effect for the team. Jota was killed in a vehicle collision with his brother this past summer.
“How do you replace such an individual? It goes beyond the player himself, it's his character. It's hard to picture the dressing room missing him. I find it difficult to discuss about it. A devastating blow for the entire squad too. Not a single person will ever use it for poor performances but it is the situation. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Handling this emotionally is difficult. Unbearable.”
