The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a major film company and introducing audiences to iconic figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys
The preview shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
