Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they stated.
Police then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police say preliminary tests indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the residents for tips.
An important official said the vandalism rendered him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
